Q: |
What items are not covered by the Warranty? |
| |
A: |
The consumable items are not fully covered by the Warranty plan except the claims for factory defective parts. The butterfly, measuring cup, spatula, seal ring of cover (lid), TM bowl and rotary blades are all classified as consumable items. The averaged life for these consumable parts is 2 years for domestic use and 1 year for commercial use. Please contact Fantan if you need to order replacement parts. additionally. |

Q: |
I forgot to manage the speed limit under level 4 while using the butterfly, and the butterfly was thus damaged, can I ask for a free replacement during warranty period? |
| |
A: |
No. The warranty does not cover this situation due to misuse. |
| |
|
Explanation: Please remember that the butterfly is not under a 2-year warranty unless it is verified as having a manufacturing defect when received. “The Butterfly is warranted only against manufacturing defects or faults. Misuse or general wear and tear is not covered”. Regarding the care of use , please read the Vorwerk ‘s Thermomix Instructions Manual page 18 which states: Important:
1. Only switch on speed after the butterfly has been locked into place
2. Do not select a speed higher than level 4 when butterfly is fitted.
3. Never use the spatula when the butterfly is fitted
4. Do not add ingredients that might damage or block the butterfly when the mixing knife is in motion and the butterfly is fitted. Other than the butterfly, the measuring cup, spatula and seal ring of cover (lid) are also known as consumable items which are not covered by Warranty Service unless it is manufacturing defective as received. Misuse or general wear and tear are not covered. Please consider this guideline message as a standard practice to your prospects and customers. To make things more clear about what is called misuse, here I would like to take opportunity using the stainless made bowl assembly as an example for further explanation. Undoubtedly the stainless made bowl is covered by our 2-year-warranty, however with an exception of misuse or abuse,….For example, if the bowl is damaged/ deformed due to misuse such as letting a stainless spoon dropped into the bowl while the blade is turning!!! In this case, any damage/ dents/ scratches to the bowl, will not be covered by our Warranty due to such kind of misuse. |

Q: |
Is it safe to use Thermomix for people who have pacemakers fitted? |
| |
A: |
Due to the magnetic nature of the TM31 motor we are often asked if the machine is safe for people who have pacemakers fitted. Vorwerk has sought advice from a leading specialist who specialises in the area. Dr. Weinmann from St Jude’s has advised all pacemakers have a filter to avoid high frequency interference. Only pulsing electrical/magnetic fields from 10 Hz can lead to problem. Such fields are not used in any household appliances and are not used by Vorwerk. |

Q: |
What’s the Varoma made from? |
| |
A: |
We’ve received enquiries regarding the material used in the Varoma. The time has come to put everyone’s mind to rest! The Varoma poses no threat to your hormones or your health and here’s the simple explanation why! The material used for the Varoma is the same as the simmer basket. These parts are made from polypropylene (PP). All Thermomix material which comes into contact with food needs to have a food proof certificate and be FDA approved. Vorwerk obtained the granulate (raw material) from suppliers and produces the parts themselves in their production plants in France and Germany.
The main concern with these types of material is the softeners like Phthalates which are used to make rigid plastic more flexible. Phthalates are known to leach out of plastic and into food, especially when heated. The leached chemicals are known as xenoestrogens and have been connected to hormone disruptions particularly in women.
The usage of phthalates is becoming more and more restricted, especially in European countries. Vorwerk does not use Phthalates in their Varoma or steamer basket-these are more commonly found in cheap plastic bottles, food packaging and containers.
Always look for the food safe symbol (a glass and fork) when buying any plastic material. You will see the Varoma, steamer basket , butterfly and spatula all carry this symbol. |
